SMASH introduces an innovative system for monitoring and intelligent analysis of clinical data, integrable with existing healthcare infrastructures. The platform combines wearable devices, indoor location technologies and Artificial Intelligence algorithms to capture and correlate physiological parameters, location and clinical information in real time.
The goal is to support care facilities through advanced analysis, alerting and visualization tools – also via augmented reality interfaces – enabling faster decisions, personalized care pathways and new models of interoperable digital healthcare.
SMASH (Smart Management and Assistance System for Healthcare) is an industrial research project to develop an integrated digital health platform based on IoT, Artificial Intelligence and augmented reality.

Project purpose
SMASH aims to develop an integrated system able to collect, aggregate and analyze in near real time information on physiological parameters, indoor location, type of healthcare intervention and clinical history, turning it into decision-support tools for care facilities.
The project goals are structured around two main areas: technological and socio-organizational.
On the technological side, the objective is to build an interoperable infrastructure based on IoT, a healthcare data lake and Artificial Intelligence algorithms, able to generate alerts, predictive analyses and advanced visualizations – also through augmented reality – to support healthcare staff in daily activities.
From a socio-organizational perspective, the project aims to promote a proximity-based digital healthcare model, more responsive and personalized, able to improve the patient experience, optimize internal processes and reduce the fragmentation of existing information systems.
The platform aims to improve efficiency, personalization, and quality of healthcare through the smart integration of clinical data, location, and IoT technologies.
