 What does Marketing mean?

It is a branch of economics aimed at analytically studying the reference market and the characteristics of consumers who populate that specific market in order to make them aware of products and services by differentiating them from the competition.

What are the 4Ps of Marketing?

They are the pillars on which marketing was born, made famous by one of the founding fathers of this discipline, Philip Kotler:

Product (product),

Place (place),

Price (price),

Promotion (promotion). 

They are considered the strategic levers on which marketing acts to define promotional strategies. Before, these were the only levers marketing used; today they have changed their meaning by relating to other controllable variables, such as People (people) which together make up the marketing mix.

 What does Digital Marketing mean?

It belongs to a branch of traditional marketing and identifies all those activities developed by a company to promote its business through the use of technological tools and digital channels.

 What is meant by lnbound Marketing?

A relatively recent marketing model, the term was coined in 2005 by Hubspot, an American company that develops digital tools to manage customer relationships.

It translates as Inbound Marketing and identifies those multichannel digital marketing strategies aimed at encouraging the potential customer to move closer to the product and, not as happened before, bringing the product to the market, which is the methodology used in Outbound Marketing, translated as Outbound Marketing where advertising dominates.

 What is meant by Buyer's Journey?

As the translation suggests, it is the journey that each of us takes before making a decision, literally the Buyer’s Journey.

It is the research process that ends with an action that can be a purchase, a booking, filling out a contact form, or more. Generally it is made up of 3 parts: first awareness, second evaluation and finally the third, decision.

Knowing the potential buyer’s journey helps the company fine-tune marketing strategies aimed at being present throughout this whole journey, with content of interest specifically to bring the potential customer closer to its product or service.

 What are Buyer Personas?

It’s a methodology used in digital marketing aimed at better understanding your target audience by describing it in all its nuances. They are avatars, realistic representations of the various models of the company’s typical customer. It’s an imaginary projection based on real data coming from different types of market research.

It’s to avoid considering all customers the same that buyer personas are essential for any digital marketing strategy, precisely because the goal of inbound marketing is to whisper to those who want to listen and not shout at everyone, indiscriminately. By knowing your counterpart, it will be easier to convey the message, be heard, and prompt action.

 What does Lead Generationmean?

This refers to a set of multichannel marketing activities aimed at acquiring contacts or generating leads, such as first and last name, phone number or email address, so they can then be worked on in a relatively short time, precisely to avoid letting the shown interest fade.

Over the years, contact acquisition has changed meaning: if in outbound marketing the lists that were generated were used for mass sending of sales communications, today, in inbound marketing, it means building relationships geared to the long term in order to increase customer loyalty.

 What does Prospect mean?

Given the previous definition, the Lead is to be considered a customer interested in a product or service who has shown their interest by sharing contact details.

Before this happens, however, the potential customer is defined as a Prospect, i.e., a person with a profile that fits the company’s potential customers, but with whom a direct connection has not yet been created. The goal is to turn a complete stranger, a Prospect, into a Lead, with the intent of turning interest into a sale, and thus into a Customer.

 What does List Buildingmean

List Generation. So-called Lists are groups of Leads sharing a common interest. Precisely because the content you share matters more than the channel you use, having recent, updated and well-ordered lists means you can fine-tune the message, know the topics of interest and use them to stay in touch, connected with your ideal customer to leverage a very important, and equally ignored, persuasive lever: the time factor.

People buy only when they are ready to buy and not when companies are ready to sell, and with targeted content you keep them engaged until they are ready, but if you define the lists wrong you communicate a message that most likely will not bring the expected results.

 What does Conversion mean?

Converting is the ultimate goal of any marketing activity. It is the moment when marketing meets reality.  It is the moment of truth to define whether a strategy is successful or not. The term conversion refers to the person who performs a certain action previously defined as a consequence of the stimuli received from multichannel marketing activities. It is a measurable value in percentage terms or in absolute value, but regardless, it is a quantifiable result.

Mistakenly, the term conversion is associated exclusively with a sale, but it changes based on the goal the marketing campaign wants to achieve. Therefore, it should be considered as a specific action taken by the user at the company’s request which can be viewing a page, filling out a form, booking a service, visiting the store or other, as long as defined in advance!
